According to Gold Derby, NBC revealed that a “research team sourced delegates from all 50 states who have been longtime and dedicated viewers of AGT" to serve as superfans.
Additionally, NBC revealed that "they compiled a group of superfans for each show taping that is reflective and as diverse as their nationwide viewing audience."

Interestingly, before the premiere of America's Got Talent: The Champions, 50 superfans were selected through an application process on the AGT website, and each one represents a different U.S. state. But, to have submitted a form, superfans were required to live in or around Los Angeles (where the show is filmed).
So it sounds like most of these participants weren't even from the state they’re repping.
