Nico Iamaleava’s parents are Nicholaus Iamaleava and Marleinna Iamaleava, and he is their third child. Nico is the youngest of seven siblings: Nicaylah, Matt, Madden, McKennah, Ninalei, Mallory, and Nori Iamaleava. The Iamaleava family is of mixed ethnicity, including American and Samoan ancestors.

Nicholas Sr. (or Alex), Nico’s father, is an assistant coach at Warren High School and has a lengthy background in athletics. Nicholas Sr. has instilled in his children a strong sense of sportsmanship as both a parent and a coach, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, who was a rugby player as a boy.

Marleinna, the mother of eight children, was diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2020, ushering in a new chapter in her life. Fortunately, because the illness was detected early enough, they were able to provide appropriate treatment. Marleinna’s kindness shone through despite her health difficulties as she prepared to be a surrogate for a Belgian family and booked an embryo transfer in the UK.

Furthermore, Nico’s older brother, Matt, was a nationally-ranked high school volleyball player before going to Long Beach State. Nicaylah, Nico’s sister, also played volleyball while studying public relations at Cypress College.
