Rolan was born to parents in Birmingham’s Sparkhill district on May 28, 1961. Roland Gift remarked that “everyone on our street was black, brown, or Irish.” That usually made me think about his religion and race. His mother’s name is Pauline, but he doesn’t know what his father’s name is.
After that, Roland’s family moved to Kingston upon Hull, where his mother, Pauline, owned a number of thrift stores while he was a student at Kelvin Hall School. Roland’s wife Louise passed away unexpectedly in 2019. One of his two kids, Louis, was a performer with the experimental acrobatic circus group “Barely Methodical Troupe,” which debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2016. The previous Cannabis Leader is related to one brother, Paul, and two sisters, Helga and Jay.
