When William was imprisoned, he was hiding in Germany. It was there that he met Catherine Oxenberg, who later became his wife and with whom he had a daughter named India on June 7, 1991. William is also the biological father of Carey, his 44-year-old daughter from a previous relationship with Bobbie.
Internet records show that Catherine frequently brought India to see her father in prison; he pleaded guilty to a 1987 importation offense, a cocaine count, and another money-laundering violation. He spent a long time behind bars.
