Nelson’s dad, Robert George Nelson, passed away on August 2, 2012, at the age of 76. Robert was a well-known architect who attended Washington State University before pursuing his study further at Harvard University and M.I.T. R.G. was a superb architect who also served as an architecture professor at the University of Idaho.
As a lecturer, he received the “Outstanding Practitioners in Education” Award from the American Institute of Architecture Students. In addition, he was given the AIA Spokane Citation Honor Award for his recreation center design at the University of Idaho. In addition, R.G. participated in the Vietnam War as a Lieutenant in the US Army. On the other hand, Judy, Nelson’s mother, is unknown.
Mijken frequently uploads pictures of her father to social media, but she hasn’t shared many pictures of her mother. However, she did once publish an old picture of her parents taken during their marriage. While sorting through boxes of my dad’s belongings, I discovered these photographs of my parents’ weddings, Mijken wrote in a comment on the page.
