Masood Zakaria, NSW’s most wanted man, was arrested in Turkey.
He is an accused top member of the Alameddine criminal organization, which has been waging a bloody battle on Sydney’s streets since 2020.
Early on Saturday morning, local time searches in the port city of Bodrum reportedly resulted in the capture of 27-year-old Masood Zakaria.
He had been the most wanted person in NSW when, in early 2022, he fled the nation by hiding in a fishing boat traveling from Western Australia to Malaysia after receiving information about his impending capture.
Masood is now jailed in Bodrum, Turkey, but will likely be transferred to the city’s central prison in the upcoming week, according to The Daily Telegraph.
Detectives from the NSW Police criminal gang squad announced in December 2021 that Zakaria was wanted on arrest warrants for allegedly participating in a murder plot and overseeing organized crime activity in Sydney’s southwest.
He is believed to have played a key role in managing the Alameddine crime network’s operations when it engaged in a brutal conflict with the Brothers4Life criminal organization between 2020 and 2022.
