Jane Birkin sister Linda Mary Birkin was born in 1950. Her mother, English actress Judy Campbell, was well-known for her theater performances.
David Birkin, her father, was a World War II spy and a lieutenant commander in the Royal Navy. Andrew Birkin, a screenwriter and filmmaker, is her brother.
She was Sophie Hunter’s first cousin twice removed, who directed theater and opera. Birkin identified herself as a “shy English girl” and said she was raised in Chelsea.
Andrew Timothy Birkin is an English screenwriter and director who is also a brother of Jane. Birkin attended Harrow School and Elstree School for his education.
He was described as “one of the naughtiest boys ever to have passed through Elstree” by a teacher at the previous school, and his reputation at Harrow was no better.
At 17, he dropped out of school to work as a mail boy at the London headquarters of 20th Century Fox.
In 1963, he moved on to work as a production runner at Elstree Studios on the films Man in the Middle and The Third Secret.
After traveling through America by hitchhiking and freight jumping in 1964, he returned to England in 1965 and started working as a runner on Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.
However, he quickly advanced to the position of location scout for Kubrick.
