The gunshot in Berkey Hall at Michigan State University was reported by MSU Police and Public Safety at roughly 8 p.m. Eastern Time on February 13. Two persons were shot and killed in Berkey Hall by Anthony McRae, who then fled the scene. McRae went into a minimum of two classrooms.
Although students blocked doors and sought cover, he broke glass to force them to leave. Students were told to flee, hide, or engage in combat. At the MSU Union building, the shooter fatally wounded a third person. Between the two places, five more people suffered injuries. Then, close to the school perimeter, McRae was spotted exiting the Union’s north side.
