Courtney Zaval is leaving KPRC, co-host Derric Shore announced on air on 18 January 2023.

Shore said that the reporter is moving on after two decades at KPRC and over five years at Houston Life. 17 January was her last day on the broadcast. Derric also praised Courtney, saying he had never had a friend like her.
The Houston Live host also recalled good times he had with Courtney while working together on the show.
“You were always up for a good time, and we had a great time together, laughing and supporting one another both on and off the air. And I can’t even remember how many cocktails we’ve had,” said Derric Shore.
The two hosts of Houston Life have become good friends in real life.
Moreover, many viewers were taken aback by the abrupt leave. On Wednesday, Houston Life refreshed its Facebook cover photo without Zavala or Shore.
Many people expressed their disappointment in the comments section. One social media user said, “I wished Courtney had the chance to thank her audience and bid them farewell. That station owed her at least that, ”
Another fan said. “Courtney made Houston Life! She and Derrick have a chemistry that can’t be replicated. You will be missed, Courtney!”
