Bishan Singh Bedi was born on September 25, 1946, in Amritsar, Punjab. His astrological sign is Libra. He began playing cricket at 13 after hearing cricket commentary on the radio.
Bishan relocated to Delhi soon after and played his first Ranji game a few months later. He made his international debut in 1966, taking two wickets against the West Indies at Eden Gardens.
In addition, he played in the 1975 ICC World Cup, where he assisted India to their first ODI victory. Continuing his excellent form, he was named captain of the national team in 1978; however, he only played 22 test games then.
Bishan retired from all forms of the game in 1981. After retiring in 1990, he began working as the national team’s coach and manager.
Furthermore, he also appeared as an analyst on several sports shows, where his fiery opinions on many cricket matters were respected by many.
After a heart attack, Bedi was hospitalized at Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi in February 2021. His condition, however, was steady.
