Tyrese Gibson wed Norma Mitchell in 2007, and on July 11, 2007, the couple’s daughter Shayla was born. But they were only married until 2009.
Tyrese and Norma engaged in a protracted legal battle for custody of their only child following their divorce that received widespread media attention.
Norma claimed that the former was abusive toward her and their daughter and was an absentee father. She also asserted that maniacal behavior and bipolar disorder were both diagnosed in Tyrese.
Tyrese, on the other hand, reacted by calling the accusations hurtful and untrue. The mother of his child was making “gross and false” accusations against him, he claimed, and it was disappointing because he loved his daughter more than anything.
After that, in November 2017, the L.A. court granted Shayla’s parents joint custody.
Shayla was reportedly not subjected to any abuse, and Judge Shelley Kaufman reportedly ordered the parents to resume joint custody of their infant girl as of January 2018.
After they divorced, Tyrese remarried. He started dating Samantha Lee, and on February 14, 2017, they secretly got married. On October 1, 2018, the couple welcomed a daughter named Soraya Gibson into the world.
Nevertheless, after more than three years of marriage, they made their separation public. Samantha allegedly filed for divorce in September 2020, while Tyrese revealed the sad news in a social media post in December 2020, according to TMZ.
The Fast & Furious actor is currently involved in a contentious divorce where the parties are at odds over spousal support payments. The couple has asserted that they are still close friends and supportive co-parents.
Gibson, who divorced his ex-wife Samantha in December 2020, claims that his relationship with Zelie Timothy has since been the “greatest gift.”
The couple just returned from a trip to Turks and Caicos where they were able to complete the photo shoot they had “planned for a very long time.”
However, there have been some bumps in the road in their relationship. In July, Tyrese sent a rather odd breakup message, but it seems like they have reconciled.
