During a discussion with Haekhinz Hair Culture (HHC), a natural hairstyling brand, as conveyed to Legit.ng, insights were shared on the methods employed to safeguard the natural hair of children. These methods include, but are not limited to:
- Proper detangling of their natural hair before styling.
- Sealing in moisture to avoid dryness that leads to breakage.
- Avoiding tight hairstyles that cause headaches.
- Avoiding low-tension hairstyles based on their different hair textures.
The natural hair salon further said that due to the uniqueness of each child, the selection of hairstyles plays a crucial role in determining the most suitable options. HHC explained that:
Children with curly hair textures aren’t advised to try some hairstyles because of the outcome or the longevity of the hair. Parents basically want hairstyles that last for a week or more to avoid back-to-back salon visits that cause manipulations on the hair.
For basic hair needs, children most of the time need have a detailed treatment for their hair. For example, cornrows(weaves) do not last for some hair textures and we advise their parents to avoid them.
