Virtue and Moir began competing at the senior level in 2005, despite the fact that they were still classified as juniors internationally. At the 2005 Canadian Championships, they finished fourth in their senior national debut. They did, however, compete in the World Junior Championships the following year and earned their first silver medal. In 2006, the duo won the gold medal at the World Junior Championships.
