In March 2000, Tara met Carson Daly on the set of Total Request Live, and the two started dating. Tara and Carson shared an apartment in New York City and Carson proposed on October 29. In June 2001, Tara and Carson broke off their engagement. On January 18, 2010, Tara’s boyfriend, Michael Axtmann who is an Internet entrepreneur from Nuremberg, proposed to her at The Little Door restaurant in Los Angeles. The two had reportedly planned an intimate ceremony for the summer of 2010. On April 20, it was announced that their wedding had been canceled and the relationship had ended.
In November 2010, Tara started dating Danish businessman Michael Lillelund. As for People, on August 14, 2011, Tara’s spokesman announced that Tara and Michael had married the day before in Greece. Michael refused it, saying he had not been in contact with Tara since February 2011. In August 2011, Tara publicized that she had married Bulgarian financier Zachary Kehayov. By October of that year, Tara reported that they were not legally married.
Between 2013 and 2014, Tara was in a relationship with Israeli musician Erez Eisen from the band Infected Mushroom. In 2016, Tara and actor Dean May participated in Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars, but were denied when they were disclosed not to be in a relationship. In 2017, she dated executive Ted Dhanik.
