Ryan and Don launched a lawsuit against the Phoenix Police Department several years after Ritchie and Larry were sentenced. Don said that the police provided false information concerning the day of the shootings.
Dalton, the investigator who interrogated Ryan, was also accused of tampering with evidence and fabricating his own version of events in the case.
Dalton appears to have had a contentious professional background, particularly in the way he handled his previous cases.
In the past, he had placed blinders on the incorrect individual and failed to follow the procedures in order to conclude a case. The Phoenix Police Department is currently under investigation for how they handled Ryan and his case.
The US Department of Justice also contacted the authorities engaged in Ryan’s interrogation.
