In America, Roy Underhill is a traditional woodworker. In addition, he is a well-known reality television star. Roy started his career as a theatre director. He moved to Colorado with his pals after graduation to form the “Homestead Arts” theatre troupe. Unfortunately, they were let down by this effort.
Later, while pursuing his master’s degree at Duke University, he offered a live demonstration of how to build a house out of a tree and an axe. A person who was impressed by his presentation suggested that he broadcast it on television. He accepted the proposal and renamed his workshop Woodwright’s Shop. Following the popularity of his performance, he began conducting seminars and selling wood-based things to the general public.
He went on to write and author a number of publications, including The Wood Wright’s Eclectic Workshop and Wood Wright’ Shop: A Practical Guide to Traditional Woodcraft.
