She chose basketball because her husband, Nick Nurse, played four sports in high school but only one in college.
At age 23, he started his coaching career right away after graduating and started experimenting with different play styles. He spent 11 years as a coach in the UK, where he led teams to two British Basketball League (BBL) championships.
Nick has experience with 15 clubs and four different countries, and in 2013 he made his NBA debut with the Toronto Raptors as Dwane Casey’s assistant coach. He succeeded in realizing his goal of becoming an NBA head coach.
He was named head coach on June 14, 2018. Being the first head coach to win both the NBA and NBA G league championships, he led the Raptors to the 2019 NBA Finals. In just his second season, he was named NBA Coach of the Year, and he immediately rose to fame.
