Career Rick started working at a bank in Cleveland. Later, he started a job at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. In a similar vein, J.P. Morgan gave him the job of managing the North America Futures and Options Business in 1983. This division covered institutional broking, research, operations, finance, and compliance. He was employed in this field as the Managing Director.

He moved to New York in 1995 and started working for J.P. Morgan’s North American Fixed Income Sales in the fixed income sector. He grew personally there while he was working and rapidly attained the title of chief of US fixed income sales.

In April 2000, he started his own company, “MarketAxess,” of which he has been Chairman and CEO ever since. Additionally, he developed the MarketAxess business plan in 1999 as a part of the Lab Morgan Program at J.P. Morgan. It functions essentially as an electronic trading firm.

In 2000, he launched the business as a stand-alone entity after organizing the $24 million initial capital raise. In a similar vein, he started the company’s first IPO in 2004. (IPO). Additionally, in 2012, he received the title of “Ernst & Young National Entrepreneur of the Year.” In addition, he appears on the Tech 50 list.
