Following a lower court’s decision that they must go to trial in the case, the parents of Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley have appealed to the Michigan Supreme Court.
In relation to the mass shooting at Oxford High School on November 30, 2021, Jennifer and James Crumbley have entered a not-guilty plea to four counts of involuntary manslaughter.
James Crumbley’s semi-automatic weapon is thought to have been used by their son Ethan Crumbley, who was 15 at the time, to kill four pupils and hurt a number of others.
The adolescent pleaded guilty to all charges against him, including terrorism and murder, last year.
On March 22, 2022, in Pontiac, Michigan, Jennifer Crumbley and her husband James Crumbley, the parents of Ethan Crumbley, attended their pretrial hearing in 6th Circuit Court with defense attorney Mariell Lehman.
James and Jennifer Crumbley are accused of leaving the gun out and not paying attention to warning flags.
Meanwhile, the Crumbleys’ defense attorneys have maintained that they cannot be held criminally liable for their son’s independent decisions.
