Paqui Kelly is, in fact, a fierce competitor, just like her husband. In addition to this, Brian Kelly’s wife beat breast cancer not once but twice.
The choice that Paqui made to get a mammogram ended up saving her life. Kelly made the decision to take the exam when she was thirty-seven years old. And lo and behold, the test revealed lumps, and the following year, Brian’s wife began receiving chemotherapy treatment for her condition.
Kelly later stated that the decision to have a mammogram prior to turning forty years old was what ultimately saved her life. In addition, Paqui had always operated under the assumption that her family did not have a history of cancer patients. That was before her sister Monie was also diagnosed with breast cancer, which brought about a change.
Up until 2007, Paqui and her family lived a life that was relatively normal. The head coach’s wife was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. In 2008, Kelly underwent a double mastectomy to remove both of her breasts.
