When she was four years old, her parents were divorced, and her mother reared her in Stoke Newington, North London.
She went to aseverallocal schools, including Acland Burghley School in Tufnell Park, where she fell in love with drama and music.
Later, she obtained a degree in contemporary dance from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds after completing her studies at Cithe ty and Guilds of London Art School. She also keeps in touch often with her Spanish-residing paternal grandma.
