Yes, Shania Twain said in a new Netflix documentary that she regularly “blacked out” on stage during live performances due to Lyme disease, a tick-borne condition, and was afraid she would never be able to sing again.

Twain told TODAY that she believed her career was over after being diagnosed with a vocal chord problem in 2011. She has Lyme disease, which is linked to increased Cancer risk.

After developing Lyme illness, Twain reported that “Never the same again” was how she described her voice struggling to regulate her airflow. “I believed I’d lost my voice for good. “I assumed that would be the end,” Twain remarked.

She added that she underwent numerous “invasive” throat procedures and that, while she finally recovered her voice, it was difficult for her to do so.
