Because Mercedes’s social media posts did not reveal any details about her daily life, no proof of her pregnancy could be gathered. And, at the time, because the show had just begun, the situation seemed to necessitate some waiting before the entire story was revealed.
Mercedes had posted a status update on one of her social media accounts weeks before, on February 4, 2021, writing, “I feel bad for anybody minding my business.” Poor baby must be befuddled.” And the ‘baby’ on it was quickly assumed to be her baby bump.
Mercedes and her TV star beau reportedly got engaged in February 2020. They were also quarantined together during the coronavirus outbreak, according to reports. And, despite Chris’ claims that he and Mercedes split up in May, they were clearly still together until the end of June. Apparently, this was around the time Mercedes’s mother posted about the Covid-update.
So there were rumors that Chris left Mercedes in late June or early July to appear on MAFS. And then there’s Paige Banks, who is embroiled in yet another drama. Following his marriage to Paige in August 2020, Chris soon found himself on the receiving end of fans’ wrath after the premiere of MAFS.
Viewers on MAFS began demanding justice for their favorite Paige after a video from Mercedes and Chris’s engagement party was leaked. Some of the contents were interpreted as proof that the ex-fiances were still in a relationship, which the fans thought was unfair to Paige.
“Paige was deserving of better. It appears that her happiness was sacrificed for ratings. It’s so sad.”
The fact that Chris led Paige on before their wedding night outraged viewers. Initially ecstatic about having a “honeymoon baby,” he later told Paige that he wanted to wait. Plus, when Chris revealed that he and Mercedes were getting matching tattoos in 2019, fans were outraged.
Meanwhile, he had described his relationship with Paige as follows:
“As a result, I am not completely attracted to [Paige]. When I first saw her, I thought, ‘Oh f**k! ‘This isn’t like what I’m used to!'”
