Elsa (née Meza), a secretary, and Oscar Marin, a Los Angeles Police Department officer, raised Marin in South Los Angeles, California.
He was born with a medically repaired cleft lip and palate. Marin identifies as Chicano; he speaks some Spanish and uses it regularly in his films, though he is not fluent.
The Actor’s first wife was Rikki Marin, whom he married on November 1, 1975. Cheech and Rikki had a child, and their relationship remained beyond their marriage.
She was an actress who appeared in the films Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie (1980) and The Corsican Brothers (1981). (1984).
Cheech and Rikki divorced in 1984, and on April 1, 1986, Cheech married Patti Heid. Heid bore him two children, but this marriage did not last as long as his previous one. Heid also accused him of violent mistreatment, but the court found him not guilty.
On August 8, 2009, Cheech Marin married Natasha Rubin in his Malibu home in front of guests including Don Johnson, Carlos Mencia, and Geraldo Rivera.
In February of the same year, the comedian and his wife had become engaged.
