Tommy Griffin, an Afro-Haitian father, and Gail Griffin, a white mother, welcomed Griffin into the world in Oklahoma City. His father excelled in basketball and running at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. From first grade, until Taylor Griffin graduated from high school and Blake Griffin finished from middle school, Griffin and his older brother, Taylor Griffin, were taught at home by their mother.
Sam Bradford, a future NFL quarterback, was Griffin’s childhood friend. Blake and Taylor used to play basketball at Bradford’s father’s gym. Before focusing on basketball, Griffin played first base in baseball and was a wide receiver, safety, and tight end in football. At Oklahoma Christian School, Griffin started representing their father Tommy Griffin, the head coach, in 2003. In 2003-04 and 2004-05, they won two basketball state titles while still in high school.
The Oklahoma Christian Saints won 29-0 in his first season, defeating Riverside Indian School 55-50 in the Class 3A boys state final at the State Fair Arena. Taylor Griffin’s younger brother Blake plays basketball professionally. What about his intimate connections? With Brynn Cameron, the sister of American football player Jordan Cameron, Griffin has two children in the past.
