Jonathan Bryan Toews was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mr. Toews was an electrician at the University of Manitoba, and Mrs. Gilbert was a credit union managing director and finance expert. Similarly, Jonathan grew up with an ice hockey player and angler brother, David. Jonathan joined him at ice hockey practice and improved. He also played basketball at the University of North Dakota, where he excelled. Also, Toews had 85 points, 40 goals, and 45 assists during his collegiate career. Jonathan was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2006 NHL Draft. A year later, Jonathan scored his first NHL goal against the San Jose Sharks.
The rookie finished with 54 points, 24 goals, and 30 assists. The following season, Jonathan was named Blackhawks captain, making him the NHL’s third-youngest team captain aged 20. Others were Sidney Crosby and Vincent Lecavalier. Jonathan plays more aggressively now that he is captain. He also led his team to three Stanley Cup triumphs in 2010 and 2013 and 2015. Toews was also an NHL All-Star in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, and 2017. Jonathan was also named the 2014 Winter Olympics’ best forward. Not to mention, Jonatha was a member of the national ice hockey team in 2010 and 2014. He also earned a gold medal with Canada at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. His stats include 37 appearances, nine goals, and 19 assists.
