She was married to her husband Ronald Levy who afterward became a prosecutor in juvenile court. The pair married in 1964. Judy and Ronald moved to New York and had two children named Jamie and Adam. The couple separated in 1976 following 12 years of marriage.

Judy later married her now-husband Judge Jerry Sheindlin in 1977, who worked as an arbitrator on The People’s Court from 1999 to 2001. Judy and Jerry divorced in 1990, partially due to the stress and struggles that Judy endured following her father’s death that same year. The two remarried in 1991. The two have three stepchildren with Jerry namely: Gregory, Jonathan, and Nicole, as well as 13 grandchildren. Her stepson Jonathan works as a retinal surgeon, and Greg and Nicole are lawyers.
