Leader of the Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan is being mourned by his family, friends, and loved ones for the passing of his oldest son, Louis Farrakhan Jr.
Louis Farrakhan, the 85-year-old minister of the Nation of Islam, had nine children.
The 60-year-old man died peacefully in his sleep in the Phoenix, Arizona, family home, according to a Nation of Islam statement that was first published on The Final Call’s website.
Family members claim to have known of Louis Jr.’s alleged prior cardiac problems. The statement read, “We thank Allah (God) for Louis Jr.’s life, his contribution to the ascent of Black and oppressed people, and for touching so many of us in a profound and very personal way.”
“His devotion and sacrifice to our cause will never be forgotten. He worked alongside his father and family to fulfill the mission of the Hon. Elijah Muhammad and the Nation of Islam.”
According to Richard B. Muhammad, publisher of the Nation of Islam’s journal, Farrakhan Jr. enjoyed designing clothes and making art when he wasn’t supporting his father’s cause.
A post on the elder Farrakhan’s Facebook page states that services will occur on Friday at 3 p.m. at Mosque Maryam, located at 7351 S. Stony Island Ave.
