Josh Owen’s death came at the age of 44. It is reported that Owen passed away on his birthday. At least two dozen law enforcement vehicles were seen in a procession eastbound on I-94 early Sunday morning, bringing Owen to the medical examiner’s office and arriving around 12:50 am.
Officers responded to a place on the 400 block of North Stromen St. in the city of Cyrus on a report of a domestic incident. At some point, shots were fired, and three officers were struck by gunfire.
Pope County deputies assured a weapon at the scene and reported numerous injured, including the suspect. A Starbuck Police officer and another deputy from Pope County suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. They are no longer hospitalized.
Unfortunately, Owen wasn’t able to get saved and took his last breath. The Minnesota BCA has been requested to investigate this deadly shooting, and more details will get updated soon.
