Jony Ive

A fresh look at Jony Ive, highlighting the most relevant details.

Jony Ive was raised in an English family by his parents, Michael Ive and Pamela Mary Ive. Michael Ive, his father, used to be a silversmith. He also gave a talk at Middlesex Polytechnic. Though he was born in London, he grew up outside the city, attending Chingford Foundation School and Walton High School in Stafford, where he studied sculpture and chemistry.

Jony was obsessed with cars from a young age. In fact, he acknowledged his interest in automotive design in a March 2014 interview with Time. He also took a couple of car-design classes in London, recalling his memories. His fate, however, had selected a different course for him, and he went to study industrial design. He then enrolled at Newcastle Polytechnic. Some of his hearing aid creations were also displayed at London’s Design Museum.
