Gregory and Mary Brandis gave birth to Jonathan Gregory Brandis in Danbury, Connecticut, in the United States.
His father, Gregory, is a food distributor and fireman, while his mother, Mary, is a teacher and personal manager.
He was the sole sibling-less youngster in his family. The Brandis family is of American nationality and has Irish and Italian heritage on Mary’s side and English, German, and Scottish lineage on Gregory’s.
At age two, Jonathan began working as a child model for Buster Brown shoes. He started appearing in television ads when he was four years old.
As little Kevin Riley Buchanan in the television series One Life to Live (1982), he made his big-screen debut when he was six years old.
Jonathan graduated in 1993 from San Fernando Valley Professional School after making appearances in various more TV programs.
