Acosta was married to his longtime partner Sharon Mobley Stow, a registered nurse. Both of them attended the James Madison University.
In 1993, the pair tied the knot and welcomed three children: two daughters and a son. After 24 years, they filed for divorced and parted ways in 2017.
Acosta has never shared the reason behind the split and also the whereabouts of his children.
