Albert Miralles has been playing professionally in basketball since 2004 and he is still doing so. He was selected in the first round of the 2004 NBA Draught by the Denver Nuggets, but he was soon traded to the Orlando Magic. He was named Rookie of the Year and to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team for his remarkable performance.

Despite being selected to play in the 2009 NBA All-Star Game, he was unable to do so because of a right shoulder injury. On July 16, 2012, he extended his contract with the Magic for a further three years; however, on June 30, 2014, the Magic fired him. Then, on July 24, 2014, he agreed to a two-year, $5.6 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks; however, the Boston Celtics swiftly acquired him.

On January 13, 2015, he was given to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Nate Robinson. Nelson decided to forego his contract, making him a free agent. On August 7, 2015, he returned to the Nuggets, and he has remained a team member ever since.
