According to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, MMA fighter Jorge Masvidal is being detained in custody at a Miami jail after being charged with aggravated battery with bodily harm and criminal mischief. Jorge Masvidal’s bail was set at $15,000.
Masvidal and Colby Covington got into a confrontation that needed Police intervention since it was physical. On March 5, Covington unanimously defeated the other in their UFC 272 match.
The state attorney’s office asked for and received a continuance on April 21, 2022, which is now valid through April 28.
Masvidal was issued a stay-away order on April 28, and the charges for aggravated battery were changed in response to claims that Covington had suffered a brain injury due to the alleged attack.
At the status hearing on May 12, a pre-trial hearing and trial were set for August 17 and August 29, 2022, respectively.
Due to joint continuances, the hearings and trials were again postponed until mid-November and mid-February 2023.
