Although Jimmy Carter does not appear to be in the best health, Jimmy Carter is still alive as we write about him. The Carter Center declared on February 18, 2023, that Carter would remain at home and “get hospice care instead of extra medical intervention.”
Carter, who lives in Plains, Georgia, fell, breaking his hip on May 13, 2019. That same day, he received surgery at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia.
He needed 14 stitches on his forehead above his left brow on October 6, 2019, following another fall at home. The former president was later seen in public with a black eye from the accident.
Carter, who had fallen at home three times in 2019, was brought to the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center on October 21 after sustaining a slight pelvic fracture.
On November 3, 2019, he returned to instruct Sunday school at Maranatha Baptist Church. Carter was admitted to the Emory University Hospital in Atlanta on November 11, 2019, for treatment to relieve pressure on his brain brought on by bleeding related to his falls.
He underwent surgery successfully, and on November 27, he was discharged from the hospital. Carter was readmitted to the hospital on December 2 for urethritis but was released on December 4.
