No, Geraldo Rivera is not Muslim. His religion is Jewish, although he has spoken out against Israel and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Rivera has publicly addressed his Jewish faith and its role in shaping his identity in interviews. He was born in Brooklyn to Jewish parents. Rivera became a Zionist in 2002 and pledged to protect Israel with his life.
He has shown sympathy for Palestinians and opposed Israel’s treatment of Palestine. In 2017, he condemned Israel’s attack against Gaza, citing civilian casualties, including children and babies. Rivera strongly opposed Israel’s 2021 airstrikes of Hamas as retribution, which killed Palestinian children.
Religious ideas of Rivera are disputed. He was criticized by Jewish organizations in 2014 for saying on “Piers Morgan Live” that he was not religious. Rivera calls himself spiritual, not religious.
Last year, he told the Jewish Journal that his Jewish ancestry gives him strength and comfort despite the controversy. Geraldo Rivera, a Jew, has freely stated his faith and his views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He regularly advocates peace and cares for Israelis and Palestinians.
