The man who attacked the businessman Paul Pelosi has been identified as the David DePape.
The suspect, 42, presently resides in Berkley, California. David DePape’s stepfather, Gene DePape, told CNN that he grew up in Canada and left the country nearly 20 years ago to pursue a relationship that made him move to California.
David’s uncle, Mark DePape, was out of words and didn’t know what to think. He has not been in touch with David for over two decades.
In addition, Mark hoped his nephew’s alleged assault on the renowned businessman was a scam, as he didn’t want to hear anything like that.
Moreover, one of acceptance of the suspect disclosed that he seemed like a person out of touch with reality. Plus, he shares many conspiracy theories and memes on his social media handle. Most posts were about Covid, the 2020 election, and the 6 January attack on the capitol.
Teresa DePape, his stepfather’s wife, also told CNN that David is an aggressive speaker. However, she was not aware he was a violent person.
She further added the suspect was a good kid who just had his opinions. Teresa believed David was a big fan of the Burning Man festival.
