According to a post that emerged on the website Conservative Tears on December 14, the actor Carol Burnett has died.
The tale came from a website that describes its material as satire, and it also contained numerous factual inconsistencies and contradictions that showed it was a fabrication.
Burnett’s name was misspelled in the headline, and the story mistakenly listed Burnett’s birth years as 1934 and 1937 rather than just one. Because he was born in April 1933, Burnett was 86 years old when the article was published, not 89 as the headline claimed.
