Hannah made her Hashimoto’s Disease diagnosis public during National Autoimmune Diseases Awareness Month.

The fitness trainer observed a sudden, drastic change in her general health and went for a checkup.

Before being diagnosed, Hannah believed she was “hormonal” and that her body was changing as she aged.

According to sources, Hannah was identified as having either Hashimoto’s thyroiditis or Hashimoto’s illness after further blood tests with an endocrinologist.

About five out of every 100 persons in the US are afflicted with Hashimoto’s disease, also known as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, an autoimmune condition that affects the thyroid gland.

The American Thyroid Association claims that Hashimoto’s illness results in persistent thyroid inflammation, which interferes with the gland’s capacity to produce thyroid hormones.

Dr. Erik Alexander, chairman of the thyroid division at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, told Today that although Hashimoto’s illness may affect people of any age, it is more prevalent among the elderly.
