The rapper Slick Rick was born to Jamaican parents on January 14, 1965, in the southwest London district of Mitcham on 1 Brad Gibson street.
Rick entered a 1984 talent showcase where he met Doug E. Fresh. Later, he was impressed by Rick’s talent and became a member of his Get Fresh Crew.
Then rapper’s creative flow, Doug’s beatboxing, and Record concerts made “The Show” and “La Di Da Di” into global anthems. The program flipped the script on rap music and served as “Hip Hop’s best storyteller’s” springboard.
In 1985, after joining Doug E. Fresh’s Get Fresh Crew, he gained fame in the rap industry through his stage name MC Ricky D.
On October 6, 2008, the La Di Da rapper was honored on the VH1 Hip Hop Honors show. Later, in 2018, he was added to the Bronx Walk of Fame.
