Dominic spent most of his professional life trying to break into Hollywood’s elite. He was never able to expand his professional network outside of the United Kingdom, though. But his son accomplished what Dominic couldn’t before turning 18.
Dominic realized this after Tom made an appearance in the movie The Impossible. How Tom Holland Eclipsed His Dad is the title of the book he wrote about it. He also published opinion pieces about Tom’s accomplishments in The Daily Mail and The Independent.
So, when I stood next to my son, Tom, in the immigration line at the Los Angeles airport, I realized that, even at the young age of 16, he had already surpassed his father’s showbiz career.
Dominic went into more depth in The Independent about Tom’s accomplishments over his own. “My oldest kid, Tom, is now 16 and the unknowing protagonist of a somewhat unusual family tale,” he stated. Dominic knew his sons would surpass him, but he wasn’t quite prepared for Tom to achieve so at such an early age. He continued to be a strong advocate for his sons, but it was clear from the articles that he secretly yearned to be a little more prosperous.
