He began recording songs in the mid-1980s. Jerry Heller, a friend of his, suggested launching a business at this time. Ruthless Records was formed with their own money by both young men. Wright created the hip-hop group N.W.A. (Niggaz With Attitude) in 1986. Among the performers were Wright, O’Shea “Ice Cube” Jackson, Andre “Dr. Dre” Young, DJ Yella, MC Ren, and Arabian Prince.

The group released ‘N.W.A. and the Posse’ in 1987. It included music by N.W.A, Eazy-E, Rappinstine, and the Fila Fresh Crew, as well as Dr. Dre’s creations. In the United States, the album was a huge success, and it was certified gold. With their rising reputation, the group chose to venture into a more controversial area, releasing ‘Straight Outta Compton’ in August 1988. Because of the album’s use of profanity and violent lyrics, music critics lauded it as groundbreaking.

Wright became known as “Eazy-E” once his musical career took off. ‘Eazy-Duz-It,’ his debut solo album, was released in September 1988. Some of the songs were about the gangster lifestyle in Compton, which struck a chord with many young people. The album was a huge success in the United States, where it went double platinum.
