The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Smith in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft with the 34th overall pick. He signed a four-year, $6.06 million contract with the Buccaneers on June 1, 2015, which included a $2.67 million signing bonus and a $4.37 million guarantee
. He started his rookie campaign as the starting left tackle for the Bucs. Additionally, Smith started the Bucs’ season-opening loss to the Tennessee Titans. He started each of the 16 regular-season games during his first campaign.
Additionally, Smith was selected by new head coach Dirk Koetter to start at left tackle in the upcoming campaign. He started 15 of the 16 games he played in in 2016. He started every game in the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
