She received criticism in March 2021 for conducting an £8,000 online prize draw on Instagram in violation of the rules governing such competitions’ advertising.
The Advertising Standards Authority determined she could not show that the winners were chosen relatively and randomly.
Hague was a guest on the YouTube-posted episode of Steven Bartlett’s The Diary of a CEO podcast on December 13, 2021.
She made controversial remarks about poverty and wealth disparity in the interview, which led to accusations that she was “tone deaf” and that her remarks were “Thatcherite.”
Asserting that “we all have the same 24 hours in a day,” Hague implied that individuals with less fortunate upbringings than she did only had themselves to blame for their lack of financial security.
After these comments generated uproar across the country, she was called to quit as the creative director of PrettyLittleThing.
Her Instagram post from July 2022 was removed because it contained an advertisement with that intent hidden.
