Wayne Stafford was born in Denver, Colorado, on June 15, 1987. He graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in journalism and mass communication in 2009.

He began his career as a reporter and multimedia journalist for KOLN/KGIN in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he worked from 2009 to 2012.

He then moved to WVVA in Bluefield, West Virginia, where he worked as a reporter and anchor from 2012 to 2015.

He joined KOKH in Oklahoma City in 2017 as an anchor for Good Day OK, the station’s morning show. Stafford was known for his energetic and engaging style of reporting and anchoring.

He covered a variety of topics, from local news and sports to national and international events. He also had a knack for finding human interest stories that touched the hearts of his viewers.

Stafford was also an avid runner and a fitness enthusiast. He had completed several marathons across the country, including the Boston Marathon in 2021.

He often shared his running tips and experiences on his social media accounts and encouraged others to join him in his passion.

He was also a devoted father to his son, George, whom he called “the best thing that ever happened to me.”

He often posted photos and videos of him spending time with his son at home or at various attractions around Oklahoma City.

Stafford was loved and respected by his co-workers at KOKH, who described him as “a joy to work with,” “a true professional,” and “a friend to everyone.”

He was also admired by many of his viewers, who praised him for his positive attitude, his sense of humor, and his compassion.

Stafford’s funeral will be held on December 2, 2023, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Oklahoma City.

His family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma in his memory.
