In 2023, the Los Angeles Dodgers did not fire Dave Roberts.
Despite a disappointing exit from the National League Division Series, Roberts retained his position as the team’s manager for the upcoming season.
He had recently secured a raise and signed a new three-year contract extension, set to take effect the following season. This decision reflected the organization’s confidence in its leadership.
During Roberts’ tenure, the Dodgers had achieved notable success, including a franchise record in wins, with 111 victories in 2023.
While there were concerns and criticisms regarding the team’s performance, many acknowledged that the blame couldn’t be solely attributed to Roberts.
Other factors, such as the pitching staff’s performance during crucial playoff moments, played a significant role in the Dodgers’ postseason struggles.
Recognizing the need for improvements, the team’s management and players were committed to making changes to maintain regular-season success and enhance postseason performance.
These adjustments, however, did not involve replacing Dave Roberts as the manager.
The organization believed in his ability to guide the team and build upon their achievements, demonstrating faith in his leadership and track record.
Dodgers fans could look forward to another season under Dave Roberts’ stewardship in 2023.
