Alex told authorities that his wife had been struggling with prescription medication addiction for a year. The couple filed for divorce less than a week before Emily died, severely damaging their marriage and requesting joint custody of the children. During questioning, Alex stated that she had most likely committed suicide or overdosed on drugs.
Despite the fact that Emily had no drugs at the time of her death, the toxicology results revealed the opposite.
