Dan Estabrook believes that society has a misconception about photography as for them any guy with a camera is a photographer rather photography is based on hard study and training. For him, photography is a discipline. The mid-aged artist was very much intrigued by art since childhood. Thanks to punk-rock and skateboarding magazines which helped Dan to formulate his passion for photography.
The skillful artist had his first photography exhibition in 1994 called Minimal at Gallery X in Louisiana. However, his first solo exhibition was held at I-Space Gallery, IL in 1994. The artist was a part of 2 different shows ‘A New Direction’ and ‘Dysfunctional’ in 1995.
Estabrook’s vision is not limited to a particular area rather he travels to a lot of places for an exhibition. In 1996, the multi-talented man held an exhibition at Catharine Clark Gallery. His achievements are also displayed at Interior Views at Houston Centre.
In 2000, Dan Estabrook organized 2 exhibitions ‘The Exquisite Corpse’ and ‘First Photographs’. Re-Thought, Re-Seen: 21st-Century Photographs using 19th- Century Processes was hosted by Dan in 2002. Estabrook has given his life to art and exploring various forms of it.
Some of his considerable exhibitions include The Exquisite Corpse, The Camera Obscured |V: Mixed Photography in 2002, The Antiquarian Avant-Garde in 2002, Glorious Gardens in 1997, Time Zero: Artists, etc.
Dan presently is in association with the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art at the College of Charleston. Jackson fine Art Gallery in Atlanta, Catherine Edelman Gallery in Chicago, and the Daniel Cooney Fine Art Gallery in New York are the three galleries where most of her Estabrook’s work can be spotted.
The award-winning artist is a member of the Freestyle Advisory Board of Photographic Professionals. Apart from this Dan Estabrook has created his website to showcase his art where he has categorized his painting under the following names-
