Daniel John Dakich is an American basketball sportscaster who was born on August 17, 1962, in Gary, Indiana, in the United States. Dakich attended Andrean High School in Merrillville, Indiana. He played basketball for Indiana under Bob Knight from 1981 until 1985. Also, he was the team captain both his junior and senior years.
He obtained a degree in communications from Indiana University (IU) Bloomington in 1985 after graduating from Andrean High School in Merrillville, Indiana. Dakich’s defensive play against Michael Jordan helped Indiana defeat top-ranked North Carolina in the 1984 NCAA Tournament’s East Regional Semifinal.
Dakich limited Jordan to 13 points in Indiana’s 72-68 triumph, although Jordan spent the majority of the second half on the ground because of foul trouble. In Jordan’s final collegiate game, both players eventually fouled out.
