Dalano moved to the United States and enrolled as a transfer student at MacDuffie School in Granby, Massachusetts after attending Central Toronto Academy in Ontario.
After that, he attended Redemption Christian Academy, where by the end of his high school career, he was a four-star prospect.
Dalano chose Western Kentucky University over offers from schools like Kansas State, Minnesota, and Massachusetts, where he played for one season (2018-19).
Due to NCAA transfer regulations, he later transferred to the University of Nebraska and redshirted the 2019–20 campaign.
He recorded a triple-double against Doane College on December 17, 2020, while playing for the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the 2020–21 season, scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists.
He declared for the NBA draft after his sophomore year (academic junior year).
